Oral Surgery

Noah is a 9 year old Standard Poodle.  He presented with this swelling of the left font jaw.

X-rays showed that it was invading bone and a biopsy was taken.

Results of the biopsy showed that this was a tumor.  A tumor that does not normally metastasize however one that is very invasive and would eventually destroy most or all of the lower jaw.  Removal of a portion of both sides of the front jaw was the treatment of choice.

This is an x-ray taken after jaw removal.  Noah ate the evening he went home from surgery.

This was taken four months after surgery.

No signs of recurrence are evident.  Many oral masses are malignant or invasive.  Biopsies should be taken and early intervention with surgical excision can be curative.
